Rail connection

Not only bulk goods have a traditional affinity to rail transport by block train. That is the reason why a first-class connection of the site to the railway network is an important factor for the efficiency of Wismar seaport.

More than 60 % of all land transport handled via the seaport are performed in modal split by rail. We are thus making an important contribution to reducing the emission of pollutants and to green logistics.

The port commands 23.4 km of its own rail tracks and an electrified connection to the European railway network. 14 of our 15 berths have a direct railway siding.

The port's own shunting station with 18 tracks offers the best conditions for putting together block trains. Officially calibrated track scales are at the disposal of our railway clients.

Thus we are paving the way not just for intermodal transport but also for integrated supply chains and forward-looking, green transport networks.
