Seehafen Wismar GmbH attains growth in 2012
In the just completed business year of 2012 the contract volume increased across all modes of transport (ship, rail and truck).
The following tonnages are expected to be achieved:
Renewable energies and sustainability have introduced new trends into the logistics business. As an energy port Wismar seaport wants to contribute increasingly to the logistical processes surrounding the ever more significant renewable energy market. By handling wind power plants and their components as well as by extending the business segment of biomass and wood pellets the port intends to further enhance its significance as a logistical hub.
Another new market segment developing for the port is in the field of cruise shipping. Columbus Cruise Center Wismar GmbH (CCCW) is the name of the new company established jointly by Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven GmbH and Seehafen Wismar GmbH as 50 % partners. The new company aims at marketing the Hanseatic City of Wismar as a new cruise destination in the Baltic Sea and at handling cruise vessels in Wismar. The first notifications for ships for the years 2013 and 2014 have already come in.
Meanwhile investment planning continues for the extension of the port infrastructure. We are going to move forward with the second stage of the planned port extension. It involves the extension of the pier by approx. 300 m with a new berth and the creation of another operating area of approx. 46,000 m². Once this project has been implemented we will have another operating area for the energy market at our disposal.
The corporate identity of the seaport was redesigned in 2012. We now present ourselves to the market as a modern business partner under our new corporate slogan 'We make it portable'.
