104 t mobile port crane has put into operation
Seehafen Wismar GmbH, 23.07.2009
Against the background of an increasing number of inquiries about the handling of project cargoes and not least because of the establishment of Messrs. Kenersys, a manufacturer of wind power plants from Münster who intend to export turbines with an individual weight of 91 tons via Wismar seaport, it has been decided to acquire a mobile port crane for a load capacity range up to 104 tons. The crane was manufactured at the Liebherr works in Rostock and towed to Wismar on a pontoon, fully assembled.
The LHM 400 is designed for four-rope crane operation, i.e. it is not necessary to use single-rope motor driven grabs that are prone to breakdown. Apart from the crane, a 12 cub. m clamshell bucket, a 12 cub. m orange peel bucket and a telescope spreader for 20 and 40 foot containers were delivered. The LHM 400 is capable of hoisting a total weight of 100.4 tons by its hook. The total hoisting capacity with full outreach of 48 m is 34.3 tons. The total height of the crane up to the tip of its tower is 33.5 m. The crane has 16 sets of 4 wheels each, which means that it is steered via a total of 64 wheels when driving.
The use of a mobile crane gives Wismar seaport greater flexibility while increasing the load capacity at the same time.
